2. Why don’t Palestinians move to other Arab countries?
Palestinians are not interchangeable with other Arabs. Palestinians have a specific history, identity, many unique dialects across historic Palestine, and a deep connection to their ancestral lands. Like all refugees, Palestinian refugees have the right to return to their homeland — a right that highlights the irrefutable connection each person has to their home country.1 Many Palestinians can trace their family history back over several generations or identify others’ origins due to the inherent connection between names and places of origin.
Palestinians cannot be simply extracted and placed elsewhere — Palestinians belong to Palestine.
While appearing as a rhetorical question, this is actually a call to decouple Palestinians from the local and international modes of production, capture resources, and establish political control and dominance.
