12. Why do Palestinians live in refugee camps after all these years?
Palestinians live in refugee camps for two reasons after all these years for two reasons:
- Palestinians are waiting for their right of return to be fulfilled so that they can go back to the villages and cities from which they originate, currently occupied by Israel.
- Palestinians in many countries around Palestine, including Lebanon, and those in Gulf countries are denied access to citizenship and many of the privileges that come with it.1 This prevents them from being able to integrate into these communities. Palestinians deserve the opportunity to work in any profession and acquire citizenship in other countries, as all refugees deserve these assurances. This does not mean that Palestinians would no longer wish to return to Palestine, as is the right of every refugee.
