A recent study in The Lancet suggests that the true death toll in Gaza due to Israel’s war on the people of Gaza is likely significantly higher than reported. Gaza’s Ministry of Health lists represent only 30% to 40% of the total killed - which doesn’t include those buried under rubble or indirect deaths caused by the destruction of healthcare, food distribution, and infrastructure. At the time of the study, researchers estimated that indirect deaths could bring the total to more than 186,000—nearly 8% of Gaza’s pre-war population.
